Description
Walnut Kromski ridged heddle reeds are the heddles used for the Harp rigid heddle looms. The looms come with an 8 dent reed as standard.
Walnut Kromski ridged heddle reeds are available in 5, 8, and 10 dent, and in lengths of 16″, 24″, and 32″.
5 dent is suitable heavy-worsted and for some bulky yarns. 8 dent works well for worsted and DK. 10 dent is for ideal for sport yarns and 3/2 pearl cottons, and 12 dent for fine yarns and 5/2 pearl cottons (not yet available in walnut finish). These are suggestions, though. Yarns vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Sampling is always recommended.
Durable reed with hardwood rails. Walnut lacquer finish. For clear reeds, go here.
The 16″ and 24″ reeds have curved top rail. The 32″ reeds have a flat top rail. See second picture for the difference, curved rail on top, flat rail below.
By adding a second heddle kit to your Kromski Harp Forte Loom, you can use two heddles at one time and achieve finer setts – for example, use two 12-dent reeds for a 24 ends per inch (epi) cloth. Or, use two heddles to make double-weave fabric (two layers at the same time). You can then weave fabric twice the width of your loom!
