Description

Possibly *the most* popular spinning wheel, world-wide!  Over 40 years research and improvements have made this one of the most accessible and easy-to-use wheels on the market today.

Why is it so popular? The separate drive band and bobbin brake adjustment of the scotch tension is easy to understand and simple to operate. The bobbins are quick and easy to change.
Ball bearings and large 22″ drive wheel make treadling smooth and effortless and easy to maintain a steady speed. The wide legs give good stability, especially when spinning at high speeds. The treadle is pivoted to allow a comfortable heel-toe action.

Additionally, the many optional accessories make this an extremely versatile wheel.

The Ashford Traditional comes as a kit wheel — that is, un-assembled, with illustrated assembly instructions.  If you would like us to assemble your wheel, we can do so, but you will need to arrange to pick it up from us, as the assembled wheels are not very “shippable.”

Comes with:  Scotch tension or double drive (Double drive has both options), basic spinning instruction booklet, threading hook, four bobbins and vertical lazy kate.

    The Ashford Traditional spinning wheel offers a lot of value, combined with great spinning capability. I have a new spinning wheel . What else do I need to get started spinning yarn? Fiber for spinning – a wool roving would be ideal as it is easier to learn to spin with.
