Description

English combs are the best option for preparing vegetation-free, smooth, aligned fiber that is perfectly ready for spinning.  Combing separates what is different, so felted bits, noils, short fibers, and vegetation are removed, leaving you with top-of-the-line fiber.  For true worsted spinning, this is *the* preparation to use.

Acorn’s English combs are available in 4 or 5 pitch (rows of tines).

Stainless steel tines measure 6-1/2″ (front row) to 4″ (back row) long. They are set 3/8″ on center. 3-5/8″ working width.

Overall, combs measure approximately 11″ long, 8″ tall and 4″ wide. Each comb weighs approximately 22 ounces.

The woodworking is not the smoothest on these combs, but they function well. You may want to do some spot sanding if the woodworking bothers you. The inlays in the covers can vary, and the handle may or may not be layered with walnut wood.

Each comb set includes two combs, two covers, base, c-clamp, 2 pegs and tine straightener. Handcrafted of oil or paste-finished hardwoods, primarily maple.
