An assortment of 10 needles, so you can experiment and find which sizes you like the best. Felters often use more then one size of needle in each project. They start with the coarser needles to rough in the project, then as the felt gets denser they graduate to finer needles for the tight detailed finish.

Description

Our needle felting assortment contains one needle each of 10 color-coded sizes so you can easily tell which one you are using:

Needle Felting Assortment Contains:
32 ga. (purple)
36 ga. (yellow)
36 ga. Crown Tip (silver)
38 ga. (blue)
38 ga. Star Blade (red)
38 ga. Spiral Blade (pink)
40 ga. (green)
40 ga. Spiral Blade (brown)
40 ga. Reverse Barb (gold)
42 ga. (white).  All in a protective plastic case.

Most dry felting work, done with medium grade wool, uses 36 or 38 gauge.

For finer surface work, or finer fibers, move up to 38 star or 40 gauge.

For coarser fibers, move down to 32 gauge.

For the finest finishing work use the 42 gauge needle. This also works great for adding details to a fulled knitted item, or to fabric.

The Star blade felts faster, with less resistance, and the Crown tip has the barbs all in the tip of the needle, making it ideal for adding skin or detail to a project that you want to remain soft and airy through the center. The spiral blade pulls the fibers down and twists them, for a faster denser felt and the reverse barb pulls fiber from the center of your project back out to create tufts or hair features.

Once you find what sizes you love to work with, you can order more of the individual sizes as well.

Felting MatPro Felter Elite
